Our team developed interpretive messaging and outdoor interpretive signage from concept through production-ready files for eight locations in Thompson County Park.
Scope
We collaborated closely with the Dakota County Parks project team and content experts to develop creative and effective interpretive exhibits. Our team included Dakota culture and language specialists Gwen Westerman and Glenn Wasicuna, who provided interpretive content for three locations, Dakota language translation, and English and Dakota audio.
Outcome
Visitors to Thompson County Park will find interpretive content and design incorporated into park amenities. Creative design and unconventional signage interpret the park’s natural and cultural resources, its place in its local watershed, restoration of the lake’s shoreline and stormwater management system, and Dakota people’s connection to this place and other related places. Interpretation also helps visitors realize their impact on their local watershed and encourages them to enjoy the park’s recreational opportunities while being good stewards of its resources.
