The US Department of Veterans Affairs is evaluating a proposal to rehabilitate and reuse buildings within the Fort Snelling upper Post in order to revitalize the area.
Scope
For these projects, we provided a range of services including reviewing building plans to ensure Secretary of the Interior’s Standards for the Treatment of Historic Properties compliance, completing archaeological investigations, and facilitating consultation with agency and community stakeholders, and Native American tribes.
Outcome
Our cultural resources investigations and consultation work on behalf of the VA facilitated Section 106 compliance and successfully moved the projects forward to implementation. On one project, our public participation and consultation process was lauded by the SHPO: “The outreach work you described and documented is exemplary.”
